For a site centered on company information, projects and articles, we usually start by evaluating WordPress. For a brand focused on selling products with payments and shipping, we evaluate Shopify. We build both and improve existing WordPress/WooCommerce sites, so adding a feature does not automatically mean migrating.
Is the site primarily for content or transactions?
A company website helps visitors understand your services, review your work and send an inquiry. It often needs ongoing additions to service pages, projects and articles, making the editing process important. A store helps customers find products and check out, then supports order handling and fulfillment.
This does not mean a company site cannot sell or a store cannot publish articles. It means identifying the main job first. We look at what is updated most often, who manages it, whether a site already exists, and whether orders follow special rules. Those conditions make the comparison useful.
Compare the operating models
| Factor | WordPress | Shopify | Existing WordPress with WooCommerce |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main starting point | Company information, services, projects and articles | Selling products or programs | An existing site needing commerce or special order handling |
| Routine updates | Add projects and articles in the admin | Manage products and content in the admin | Manage existing content alongside commerce features |
| Cost structure | Hosting and domain, plus selected themes and plugins | Subscription, plus selected themes, apps and payment fees | Hosting, domain and required plugins |
| Account ownership | Hosting and domain in your name | Platform and domain accounts in your name | Keep your own hosting and domain accounts |
| What to check first | Editing needs, layouts and maintenance | Payments, shipping, products and order management | Compatibility, payment stages and order states |
See the official websites for platform pricing and plans. This table compares management approaches, not a claim that one option is always cheaper or includes every feature. Actual availability depends on the selected plan and configuration.
Why content-heavy businesses consider WordPress
Our WordPress company sites can include an about page, services, portfolio, articles and contact or inquiry forms. You can add projects and articles yourself in the admin without a quantity limit. The important work is defining reusable fields and layouts so publishing new entries does not require redesigning each one.
You purchase hosting and the domain in your own name. We build in our environment and hand the website over to your hosting account after sign-off. Owning the account does not remove the need for updates, backups and routine checks. Confirm the operating guide and maintenance arrangement as part of delivery.
When we evaluate Shopify
If the website mainly sells products or programs and needs a connected path through products, orders, payments and shipping, we evaluate Shopify. It uses a subscription model. Themes, apps and payment arrangements may introduce separate costs, so do not combine the build fee with the ongoing cost of using the platform.
We build new Shopify stores and migrate existing sites or stores. Our Shopify builds and migrations usually take 4–6 weeks. That is the usual service timeline, not a guarantee for every scope. Content, product data, features and sign-off still need to be agreed during the consultation.
An existing WordPress site may not need to move
If your site already presents the business well and the problem is the order workflow, we first look at improving WordPress/WooCommerce. A preorder process with a deposit and balance payment, or additional order states, does not necessarily require a complete rebuild. Review the current setup and constraints before choosing an extension or migration.
Migration involves more than a new appearance. Content, URL mappings, product information and existing functionality need to be considered. Staying on the current site also requires compatibility, access and maintenance checks. Avoid treating either option as a shortcut around planning.
Forms and integrations need their own scope
Whichever platform you choose, ask what happens after a form is submitted. We can plan owner notifications, CRM records, routing and follow-ups, as well as LINE customer service and booking connections. These are scoped tasks, not automatic consequences of installing a platform.
Search and AI readability also need testing. A platform choice alone does not deliver rankings. SEO/GEO foundations are included or added on depending on the plan; we do not guarantee rankings or AI recommendations. Verify the content and the technical reading foundation separately.
Simple rules for deciding
- Mainly company information, projects and articles that you will update yourself: evaluate WordPress first.
- Mainly selling products or programs with payments, shipping and order management: evaluate Shopify first.
- Already on WordPress, with a specific deposit, balance or order-state requirement: evaluate WooCommerce and improvements to the existing site first.
- Content and transactions are equally important: list the main workflows, administrators and essential features before choosing.
We want the platform to support your work, not force you to reorganize everything around it. Bring your existing site, the features that must stay and the people who will manage it to the consultation. That makes the choice more grounded than a popularity comparison.
Frequently asked questions
- Do you work with both platforms?
- Yes. We build WordPress company sites and Shopify stores, migrate to Shopify, and improve existing WordPress/WooCommerce functionality according to scope.
- Does a deposit-and-balance workflow require Shopify?
- No. An existing WordPress site can be evaluated for WooCommerce. Review the payment workflow, order rules, compatibility and current setup before deciding to migrate.
- How long does a Shopify migration take?
- Our Shopify builds and migrations usually take 4–6 weeks, depending on the agreed content and functionality. Company website timelines are confirmed after consultation.
- Which platform is cheaper?
- Compare more than the build fee. Hosting, domains, subscriptions, themes, plugins, apps and payment fees affect spending. See the official websites for third-party pricing and plans.
